  • ELEGANT SMOKE PHOTO EFFECT IN ADOBE PHOTOSHOP

Instead doing a boring smoke-adding tutorial, I decided to shake things up by adding a hidden face amongst the clouds of smoke.

Here I start off with a black and white picture.

I've made sure that the canvas is larger than the image to ensure ample space to move around.

    I recommend a white canvas.

Next, you're going find a clear smoke image and place it on top of your photo.

It's important that the majority of the background is white and the smoke is in clusters.

You're then going to go to your layer option and set it to Screen.

    This is your result.

It was important that the smoke was somewhat solid in the middle area so that the face would show through.

If it doesn't, simply resize the image until it suites your needs.

In the end, I added another image at the bottom as the "source of the smoke."

I set the layer at Multiply on top of the all the images so that the smoke would go on top of the book.
